Dear Neighbors… Seriously?

So our house has been consistently invaded by animals this year, but I can’t figure out if they’re drawn to us out of love or hatred. Either way, they love hanging out there.

First there were the cockroaches and slugs (still there, but in much smaller quantities). Then, there were the evil cats (who no longer poop in our planter, thanks for all the tips!). I also saw a teeny tiny frog in the kitchen last week, but at least he was cute. Now… ok, I seriously can’t even explain this one. My Facebook and Twitter friends already know that one of our neighbors a few houses down has acquired a rooster.

A ROOSTER.

A ROOSTER THAT CROWS.

A ROOSTER THAT HAS LEARNED TO CLIMB NOT ONE, BUT SEVERAL BACKYARD WALLS.

Apparently our house is a Mecca for Yucatan wildlife.

What animal do you think will be next? Place your bets!

  1. We had a duck that flew up out of our neighbors back yard onto the roof of our casita and taunted the dogs (3) of them one entire day. Then I think it became a dinner one night for the family that owned it !!!!

  2. That is one determined rooster. Maybe you should’ve kept the cats around to chase it off? One of neighbors chickens is turning into a rooster and it sounds like it’s going through puberty. Painful to listen to.

  3. He, he, he! I have a rooster too! I am just about the only Gringa in my neighborhood and the only one with chickens. I thought it would help me to “blend”… but no. I do keep mine in a proper coop but that certainly does not stop the crowing. As an early riser, I don’t mind and so far, only my husband has complained in the past two years since we acquired them.

Sorry this one is giving you fits! 🙂

  4. Oh my gosh, if I wasn’t a vegetarian I’d scream, ‘Kill it!’ because I know how frustrated I’d be to hear that at the crack of dawn.

What’s next? Goats? Horses? Wild monkeys, perhaps?
